After years of working for others, Dan Young decided it was time to run a diesel repair business the way it should be run. With a focus on integrity, customer service, and reliable repairs that he would stand behind, Dan started Standard Diesel and Repair in the late '90s with one service writer and a 3,000 square foot shop. Today Standard Diesel occupies a facility three times as large, and has seven technicians and three service writers on staff.

Diagnostics in a particular strength of Dan's, and of his team. Correct diagnoses can mean the difference between hundreds or thousands of dollars of repairs, or a simple fix that might get you out the door without spending a cent. Recently a customer brought in a vehicle that had been serviced by a local repair shop. The new replacement parts they installed did not fix the problem. The customer then purchased a complete replacement assembly and brought it to Dan to install. In 10 minutes the problem was identified as a sensitivity screw that needed to be set properly. Needless to say, the customer was very pleased when notified of the actual issue. Instead of taking the "throw parts at it until it works right" approach, the technicians at Standard Diesel all operate on a principle of diagnosing first, then doing the work that is necessary.

Standard Diesel continues to grow today. We have become a factory direct dealer for Gale Banks Engineering, S&B Intakes, Industrial Injection, PowerMax turbochargers, AFE , RevX, Transfer Flow fuel tanks and  B&W trailer hitches. We are the only northern Nevada authorized dealer for Kryptonite suspension products. We continue to operate with a focus on integrity, customer service, and reliable diagnoses and repairs.
